They artist is trying to spread a positive message. It's not trying to control anyone, it's just to prevent people from getting hurt. If you're already addicted to smoking then it can be very difficult to stop. Posters like these are only trying to deter future smokers from harming themselves and others. If you don't like it, that's fine; just share your opinion respectfully. I personally think that this a beautifully-done image, but I'm not going to insist that it's amazing just because someone else (like you) doesn't like it.
I'm sorry, but no. Everyone knows smoking hurts you. EVERY. ONE. You're beating a dead horse. Anti-smoking campaigns lead to the ridicule of smokers; "Pf, don't you know that's bad for you?" It makes people think it's ok to tell smokers they shouldn't smoke. Mmk, well more people die in car crashes, but I don't run around telling everyone they should walk/bicycle everywhere.
If you want to "deter future smokers" or "encourage smokers to quit" then DO THAT. Don't just spew the same old "beautiful images" that show how smoking hurtz yer lungz derp.
i never understood people defending smoking habits.... It's not like weed where theres "benefits" and second hand smoke is a real thing. When smokers smoke, they aren't only hurting themselves. There's nothing to gain from smoking, absolutely nothing but a crutch.
But....what they like is smoking. Are you defending it or are you not? People will do what they like, thats not the point of anti smoking adds. Whether they work or not people will create these adds even if it doesn't affect YOUR sorry ass. The difference is, is that one will kill you and actually negatively affect other people and one provides information.
Yes, they do. They choose to begin the addiction and they may choose to end it if that's what they want. If they don't mind being addicted, many of them don't mind, then you cannot force them to stop. Long story short, if it doesn't affect you, don't bother them. Period.
Smoking is an addiction. I hate saying that, and as a smoker, I feel entitled to say that. It's an addiction.
Here's a thought: the next time you're thirsty, go in the kitchen, pour yourself a glass of water, take a look at it, and put it on the counter and walk away. Then, later on, when you're really thirsty, go back in the kitchen, pour another glass, put it next to the first, stare at them for a while, and then walk away. Repeat this for the rest of the day.
That's how it feels when you are addicted to cigarettes.
I know smoking is an addiction. But that does not explain how a smoker/nonsmoker can get so offended by adds that speak out against it and act like what the smoker does is justifiably exempt from being protested against. I get these kind of adds can get obnoxious and annoying, but theres nothing a smoker can say about their addiction that says "What I do is not that bad and these ads have no right to post statistics about it"
Smoking tobacco helps the economy where it is grown and sold. Smokers frequently live long, healthy lives. It is not the death sentence you make it out to be. I suggest you research tobacco outside of commercials you've seen on tv.
You people treat tobacco like it's armageddon, yet you tell me to grow up.
Well, the lungs are replaced/represented by skulls. Skulls represent death or dying. Smoking kills the cells in your lungs, thus killing the lungs. Thus, smoking = death of lungs. The image itself is saying that if you subject yourself to smoking, you'll kill your lungs (and ultimately yourself, of course).
